Wow, look at that, my finnish (not swedish as I wrote above) linen yarn for sauna bench covers has just arrived. I have never seen something like this before.

These are three 500g hanks, 1kg is 950m.
Feels surprisingly soft. As weft I chose a cotton twine.
Soo exciting!

Weaving with this yarn is a new experience. It is quiet wiry and I have to pull really hard not to get a too ugly selvedge.
Cheryl, I'm happy you draw my attention on the cramming and denting episode. Jane's tipp to pull the thread of the bobbin befor throwing when working with linen is worth so much!
Apart from that it weaves totaly fast.

I rewatch episodes of past seasons frequently...yesterday I watched the season 1 warping videos as I'm going to be helping a friend to warp up two of her looms and I didn't want to forget anything important and made some notes.

I'm so used to warping MY looms, but am totally unfamiliar with my friends looms.

I decided to change tie-ups to better understand X and Y Treadles. In this example I wove as per Jane's tie-ups in Season 5 (my warp design).

And in this latest towel, I switched the X treadles to 1-567 then 2-568 then 3-578, and 4-678. I kept the framers in the weft for A and B. This is my work around, as I only have 10 treadles, and if I had 12 I would tie up for good old turned twill and framers. For years, I only wove on 4H and twill and now the world has opened up for me on 4 and 8. Thanks Jane. Next challenge is Color and Weave from Season 7.

Cheryl, I will work up a better step by step shuttle process explanation on the Jane. I’ll also post pics. I have learned how to do that, so posting pics will ne next.

I’m warping up sample 1 of the color & weave gamp. My Ashford rigid heddle loom has a warping board on the back. I can make a 9 yard warp on it but only 1 section of the gamp at a time. I’ve made good progress with warping up multiple threads. The last section took me 2 hours, a vast improvement. We all have to start as beginners.

Just posted my Season 7 Episode 4 project in the "Season 7" thread. I highly recommend the Halvdrall project. Fast and easy !!

Just took my sauna bench covers out of the dryer. I'm really happy how they turned out, the linen became much softer.
