So, I wove two scarves from Season 7 episode 3 Monk's Belt with Color and Weave. I used 8/2 for the warp and Zephyr for the weft. I used Jane's method of measuring two separate warps, a light and a dark and combining them as I set up my table loom....OMGosh this method is genius !! So easy and fast...I'm a convert.
The first scarf, I wove with basically the dark color Zephyr as the weft (Mahogany) with the zingers in the cream color. I wove this with the "Scarf #1" Monk's Belt treadling... tabby, other tabby, A,A repeat 10x....tabby, other tabby, B,B repeat 10x.
The second scarf, I wove with Huck treadling...tabby, float, tabby, float, tabby, other tabby. I used the lighter tan color of Zephyr for the whole scarf except for the "other tabby" picks which were using the Mahogany colors, and a Mahogany section dividing the Huck 10 repeat sections. One section was 10 repeats using block A, and the next section was 10 repeats using block B.
After taking off the loom, the dimensions of the scarf with Monk's Belt treadling was 73x15 7/8...after wet finishing this measured 69 x 9 1/4 inches.
The Huck treadling scarf before finishing was 50 x 15 1/4 and after was 47 x 10 1/2 inches.
I ran out of warp and thus the second scarf was much shorter.
I wanted the finished scarves to be thicker, warmer and more sturdy so I ran them through the delicate cycle in the washer....yikes they shrank a lot, so just hung them to dry.
The Monk's Belt shrunk at a higher percentage in width than did the Huck...interesting.
They are both very soft and will be great for colder temps.
