Hi Jane -- greetings from Corvallis Oregon. I really love your overshot scarves and would like to do something similar as a baby blanket for my first grandson. My daughter is an architect and loves the structure of the scarves. Because it will be washed more than a scarf, I am a little worried about using Zeph and 30/2 silk in weft. Can I substitute Bambu 12 for the silk? Not sure what to use for Zeph or if a substitute is even needed. Also should I increase the epi since it is a blanket? Thanks for any advice.... and I will sample :)
Hi Susan,
I would just keep the warp 8/2 cotton and make the pattern weft 8/4....then it can be thrown in the washer and dryer forever. You could make the tabby weft 16/2 cotton or bambu 12 which would make it a tad drapier. I would not increase the sett because the 8/4 is a bit heavier. Zephyr cannot be thrown in the washer and dryer....it will really shrink...so if you used it this baby blanket would have to be washed my hand. Those are my thoughts.
Have fun,
Jane
Hi Jane, a long overdue thanks for the suggestions and guidance. I am just getting back to the planning, design and sampling; I will send pics as soon as it is off the loom. Susan
