Hi from Spain! Being realistic with myseft, weaving 11 place mats will take me forever. So I want to change from place mats to a sample scarf, with8/2 and 8/4 cotton. But I realized 14 EPI is super dense. Any suggestions about which EPI setting for a scarf in monk's belt? Many thanks!
Hi Violetta, if you use the 8/2 for both the tabby weft and the pattern weft, it will be drapier. I would keep the sett the same. I demonstrate weaving with 8/2 for the pattern at the loom.

I'm having trouble printing the PDF for Season 6 Episode 2 on my Mac. Pages 1 and 5, the only pages with color images, won't print correctly in color. Page 1 prints correctly except for the area under the picture of the towels, which prints all black, and page 5 prints entirely solid black except for the two small color images. If I tell Adobe to print in black and white, then all the text shows correctly, so I do have the full data by printing first in b&w, the color, just not "pretty". Hasn't happened with any other lesson.
Hi, I just printed it out from my Mac and it printed exactly the way it looks when I open it in a new tab. I've just tested it through Firefox and Safari - and the pages print the same way in both browsers. Are you saying that the block of text on page one - under the photo - prints solid black and is therefore unreadable? I'm not a "techie" but if your answer to my question is yes - then I'll pass your problem on to our "techies".

I've changed the file format and hoping that when you print the PDF out, it will work. This file is slightly larger than the previous one. Let us know if you still encounter issues.

I am really enjoying weaving tea towels in the Monk's Belt weave structure. One concern I do have though is when I need to change to a new bobbin for the float weft, I am concerned there is not enough warp threads to hold that cross over in especially after several washings. Any comments?
As long as you tuck your tail just past the royal border you'll be fine because the units are small at the selvedge. Do all changes at the selvedge. Trim after their washed and you'll be fine.

This is a great kit! These need to be more than towels! Has anyone tried using silk in the weft for a scarf/shawl? If so, what sett did you use?

I would keep the sett the same and use 20/2 silk. It will be fabulous.
I just started weaving the first towel for Season 6 Episode 2 on my Louet David. I tied up for sinking shed, which took so many cords I had to make some new ones. So I just tried to do the hem on the first towel, using the Y treadles, and, wow, I can barely push them down, since most of the treadles are pulling down 6 of the 8 shafts, and my weak legs just can't do it. (I'm in physical therapy working on strength, button at all ready for this level of challenge yet.) So I'm planning to redo the tie-up back to the rising shed version, which I hope will be easier? Your nice photos of both sides will be a great help to me looking at the reverse.
I'll decide which tie-up will be easiest for each towel as I go, if this one turns out well.

If you are having trouble reversing the tie-up will make it so much easier. Absolutely do that. If you follow the treadling everything will be the same when you turn those babies over :)

I'm halfway through the first towel and it 's working well. I do love turned twill and the colors in this set. Even if the only thing I experienced in the guild were the colors you use in the kits, it would be worth the price of membership. But, of course, there's so much more, and all of it has been such a gift. I don't know how I might have made it through these last often isolating and boring, sometimes terrifying, always worrisome years of the pandemic without your creative and calming influence. I too feel blessed to have found your guild and classes. At first, I did the free trial and loved your teaching style (I'm a teacher too) and then purchased the yearly membership. Just finished watching all the episodes on Overshot. So glad that you have honoured the tradition, and then taken it forward. I too have been admiring those that are weaving it in bright/neon colours, using as inserts and so many other variations. It creates interest for those coming into weaving and looking for up to date styles. Way to go.
And of course, you have explained the theory and made things like turning points so much easier.

It's always a pleasure to discover a new episode from Jane. I must admit that concerning the overshot I had preconceived ideas (dated, old-fashioned, old coverlets ...).
