Not sure who will have had more fun weaving this episode - Jane or you! Let us know 😉
Season 8 - Episode 3 - Deflected Double Weave
So, I know I don't like long floats, or most any floats, on dish towels or placemats, I put a narrow and short warp on my Jane and wove a little table runner. It's 4 shaft using 8/2 cotton at the sett according to our pdf, just with fewer repeats. I wound two warps, one in black and one in natural colored 8/2 and beamed them together (I love how Jane taught us that method). I wove a variety of the patterns and separated them with a 5 pick plain weave band in different colors of cotton. It's so cute !! Now I just need to plan an 8 shaft project.

Thanks Ginette
I am interested in that, too!
Hi Cheryl, Deb and everyone!
Ok got the info! The second Alpaca Shawl, follow #2 from the sampler.
Colour sequence is: 6 C Fuchsia, 12 D Chartreuse, 12 A Chartreuse, 12 D Chartreuse, over and over and over.
Jane had to weight the selvedge blocks after a while so keep that in mind.
Happy weaving this shawl!
Hey Ginette...I just took a closer look at your instructions. There is not a weft pick block using magenta...only the other two colors...is that correct?
Deb Olliff and I are weaving Alpaca Shawl #1 together.
Shouldn't the treadling color after the border be:
C6 Marigold
B12 Chartreuse
C6 Marigold
NOT
C6 Marigold
B12 Fuchsia
C6 Marigold
You can't get those solid stripes of the Chartreuse color with the treadling colors as written in our handout.
The first part is a 1" border. My handout shows the border and then we move into the columns.
Yes I know Jane...I'm looking at the instructions for the body of the shawl.
Also,
Instead of ... for example...
C6
B12
C6
repeated 13 times
Shouldn't it be
C6
B12
repeated 13 times followed by one more C6 to balance it out?
Well when I look at my piece and the tie-up it looks like the pattern is correct, especially if you see that the border is only 1". I don't have it on my loom to test. If you have it on your loom can you give it a try and see if it works?
I did that Jane...had to unweave when I saw it wasn't working.
Made the corrections I asked about above and am now weaving along.
Here's a photo after corrections...I'm using two colors of blue, and natural instead of chartreuse .
