The pdf for the summer and winter color and weave placements specifies 20 ppi for tabby and 20 ppi for pattern weft. Does this mean that we should be getting a total of 40 picks per inch? That seems almost impossible to achieve…. What am I not understanding here?? Thanks.

I'm getting about 24ppi total for each "stripe" of natural or taupe for placemats 1-3. I'm almost done with placemat #3. HTH

Yes I wove in 20 pw and 20 double floats. These are skookum matts, very heavy. I've just counted again and they are now about 18 and 18 but they have been washed and things change after being washed.

So, Mine are measuring 25 inches long on the loom (from fold line to fold line), so will probably be finished after washing and drying at 22.5 inches....so 3.5ish inches longer than the episode instructions.

I just dug out some unwashed samples from the S&W episode. I got it totally wrong...the PPI is not correct. Man I need you on our proof weaving team.
I even had this project proof woven by another weaver and we didn't catch it. I got 18 ppi when weaving plain weave in the hem turns.
I got 8 picks of pw and 8 double picks of 8/2 pattern to make a perfect square...which was 3/4" square.

So the weft tabby picks are 11 ppi​​​​
And the doubled pattern picks are 11 ppi

I'll get this up on the forum and I'll get Ginette to change the pdf one more time.
As we always say in the studio.....no matter how hard we try, it takes a village to raise a pattern.
