Hi there, I am doing the double weave sample and have watched the video so many times I know it by heart! However I seem to have one layer and not sure what i am doing wrong. Maybe have tied up incorrectly. I have an old Leclerc Counterbalance Inca. I have the tie up first treadle 2,3,4
2nd 1,2,4
3rd 4
4th 2
Treadling 1 and 2 then 3 and 4
thanks
Really enjoying the courses!
Double Weave Problems
Just an update. I think the problem seems to be when I am doing the bottom layers the shed is very small. It is tricky to get the shuttle through the shed without picking up threads from the other sections. Not sure how to fix this.
Hi Jennet, there is a section in that episode where I weave on a counter-balance loom to illustrate that smaller shed that can be a problem on counter-balances. Do you have a thinner shuttle?
Thinking a little more about this....the Inca might work better if you can raise the harnesses a bit by shortening the roller cords a little. I’m not sure what the roller cords are made out of on that loom...you might not be able to...but you might be able to shorten the tie-up cords by 1/2 and inch by using something like texsolv cord and that might improve your shed. If you can’t change any of your cords...there is another way to go about it. You could wrap something around the rollers to make them thicker. Just under where the cords sit on the rollers. Even cutting stripes of cardboard and wrapping them around the rollers. Maybe send me a picture of your loom and a picture of that bottom shed from the side would help me, help you :)
If you send them to [email protected] I will get them. Sorry you are having problems :(
