Hello, I am a beginner and have a question about sagging threads. I have an old Leclerc Fanny loom. I followed Jane’s instructions warping back to front. I got my warp tied onto the apron of my cloth beam evenly and securely. I thought I had even tension but as I lifted shafts 1-3, I realized that there is no tension on the bottom, all threads were sagging, the upper level was perfectly normal. It happened again when I lifted shafts 2-4 -my threads on the bottom were sagging and the upper level was perfectly normal.
What did I do wrong? How can I fix it?
I would really appreciate your help.
Thank you in advance
Sagging threads on Leclerc Fanny
Have you double-checked to see if you have a straight line from the treddles to your shafts? Sometimes if only 1 tie-up isn't on the right path - it can cause you grief.
Is your warp coming up from the warp beam and then over the back beam and into the heddles?
Agreed! I had the identical problem this summer with my Dorothy. The instructions on how to fix it are somewhere on this site, but if I remember correctly,: with the Fanny you can just remove the back beam, slide it under the warp in front of the warp beam, and then raise it up and re-attach it. It was a little trickier with the Dorothy because the back beam is fixed.
Thank you, Ladies, so much! My warp wasn’t coming over the back beam:) it was easy to fix.
Very grateful for your help😊
How did you fix it with a fixed back beam? I have a Dorothy too and just made the same mistake!
Unwind the brake from the warp beam and gently lift the beam out of its slots. Make sure there's slack in the warp and lift the beam up under the warp, pass it in front of and over the back beam and back down to its position, making sure not to tangle any warp threads. Fasten into place making sure the brake is properly tensioned again. so - out - up - over - down - in. Hope that helps.
Marina,
I'm so glad you had an easy time fixing this.
Ask me how I knew that was the problem LOL...
