I love this and it's worked well for years. Now it's squeaking and won't budge. I saw online that I should "remove the reel from the Center post". I don't know what the reel is and nothing is moving. Do you have a diagram or know what I should do? Many thanks, Janet

Were you able to solve the squeaking and sticking problem? Did you find out what the reel in the Center post is and how to remove it?

My Loet vertical warping mill is a dream come true for warping with my aging hands. However, the squeak is deafening! I wore noise-cancelling headphones when I wound my last warp and they didn’t cancel out the horrible high-pitched squeak. I’ve seen other posts that talk about soap or wax to help with the squeak. Did you try that and did it work? Also, perhaps a dumb question, but do you wax or soap just where the center rod fits into the bottom or are there other places, too? I only hear the awful squeak from the bottom.

Mine does the same. I varnished the wood pieces as directed by Dave at Louet. That didn't work. Now I have flakey varnish drifting about.
I then jerry rigged two discs with holes in the middle, disassembled the mill, and added the discs to the bottom just above the pin. It kinda alleviates the noise but not 100%. It's the pin with the nylon tube that is wearing a groove into the bottom arm and making that hideous noise.

It appears that Louet has redesigned the warping mill. I emailed Dave at Louet to ask if an upgrade kit would be available so we can refit our existing mill. He said yes by April but I haven't seen it yet. I am worried that it will be insanely expensive like the cost for the shuttle run to fit onto the Jane table loom. The new mill does look different in the photos but I can't tell what it rotates on.

Could you all email Louet as well? Perhaps with more voices, some true remedy will finely be available. BTW, I've had another smaller mill and it made some noise as well but not like this.

I looked up the vertical warping mill and they now have a manual posted for the 2024 version. It is now rotates on ball bearings. I will email again to see if and when they might have a retrofit kit available but if you could email as well, perhaps it will urge them on.
