What's on your loom this July - something light and beautiful during one of the hottest months of the year????
Bread Bags a pattern by Shannon Nelson.
It’s the first warp on my new-to-me LeClerc Inca floor loom and it’s all working beautifully!
I just finished the last pick on weaving four collapse weave scarves. I call them my Pumpkin Spice Latte scarves. I love weaving, so quick. I’m not sure how to post a pic, so here is a link to the photo on my I cloud.
Happy weaving, Trent
Love the name you've chosen Trent! I like your colour choices :)
Trent...your scarf is absolutely gorgeous!!
Trent, your scarf is abfab! Love the name you gave it. :)
My loom? Nekked at the moment but not for long. Just finished assembling her. She is my new Louet 16s 50cm Jane table loom, and I am so excited to get her dressed. I recently sold my floor looms, except for my little Wolf Pup, and am replacing them with my Jane (for doubleweave projects as table looms work wonderfully with my brain for doing doubleweave); and an AVL 24 shaft Little Weaver 2 that is being built as I type.
What will be on my loom in July? Beautiful sari inspired scarves for the Season 8 course that I am awaiting with excitement. I so love all of the treasures that can be put into doubleweave pockets, so how could I possibly resist joining in on this session??!! Am awaiting the kit and accompanying accoutrements to arrive and can't think of a more beautiful way to introduce my Jane to her new life.
I have another 8 shaft DDW scarf on my Jane loom (this time using some Zephyr from my stash) .
Also, I am participating in a swap via Ravelry and have just finished the planning stage for my towel warp. I will warp this on my David 3. The project will be alternating stripes of point twill hearts on shafts 3-8, and they will be separated by stripes of basket weave on shafts 1 and 2. Warp and weft will be 22/2 cottolin.
My first towel on my first warp on a Louet Spring ii. It's the Holly & Berry Towel kit in Forest with 2 extra colors (turquoise and and cobalt) but I didn't figure out how to make the lace correctly until I realized I was using the wrong tabby order for the lace blocks. See 5.7.5, 24 seconds in. Next I will correct some of the threading and then start towel #2.
I am learning a lot from Jane and from all the lovely people here who have answered questions.

I like your colour choice Julia! Congrats on your Louet Spring ii!
Just took a linen bridal shawl off the loom done in huck lace.

Gorgeous!!
That shawl is stunning!
8 shaft Deflected Doubleweave. From my project notes: 312 ends, 3 yds long warp. Warp and weft Zephyr in the colors Juniper and Copper. This scarf was published in the Handwoven Summer 2024 issue. I closely followed the threading and treadling in the published article. While I love my scarf, it does not match the article photograph. Handwoven published a lift plan after my scarf was half woven. The lift plan does NOT mirror the treadling plan. I sent an email to Handwoven.
I wove my scarf longer than the pattern instructions because I wanted to use as much as the warp as I could (within reason). Before wet finishing my scarf measured 12” x 89”. After wet finishing the scarf measured 11” x 84”. I had to rinse the scarf at least 10 times to get the excess dye out of the yarn.

Oh my goodness! That is spectacular!
So gorgeous! Brings to mind the adobe casitas in New Mexico.
Love your scarf! Did you get an answer from Handwoven? Im still waiting for the Summer issue. It's incredible how long shipping takes. 2-3 month is totally normal😆
Hey Catherine, I did get a reply. They said that the "lift plan" did not include the border repeat.
My reply to them was that the border repeat was NOT even clearly indicated in the "treadling plan", and that the instructions needed to be clearer. I have not heard back since.
My scarf followed how I read the treadling. Good thing I like it LOL.
cheers...cheryl
Just finished some towels based on the PONYO towels/kit. This is my current favourite
