I am a brand new weaver. I have an 8 shaft table loom, 16”. I can tell already that this going to be too small as I want to make fabric to sew with once I am better at this. What floor loom do you recommend? I am not trying to save money as this would be an investment for the rest of my weaving career and I want to get it right.
I am not really interested in rug making. I am definitely interested in versatility however, quiet function, smaller footprint as my house is already crowded. Lol!
Thank you!
I love my Louet David III. It is the 110cm one and I have made blankets on it using the double width method. There are a lot of people here that will verify the pleasure of owning one of these, including Jane herself. ;)
It is not huge, it's quiet and easy to use. Especially with some of the add-ons I have implemented such as the Helping Hands for warping. My husband rigged a paper roll holder, and added lighting as well. You will not regret this loom.
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed!
Watch Jane’s video about it. That was what convinced me, as well as the recommendation of a friend who owns an older, smaller David.

Very clear demonstration. Thank you! After I work through a few seasons of Jane’s courses, I am definitely going to look into this.
Rita, Enjoy the journey/rabbit hole of looking for your next loom LOL. I also love my David 3.
What weaving width do you think you might like?
I really love my Spring-12 Shaft.. She’s a countermarche. that fits in the house since it’s a paralllel cm. Very easy to treadle and quiet. More time required for the tie up but worth it for the shed and treadle ease.
I hope to try out the David one of these days based on the Fan reviews;)
Can you try different looms?
Maybe there is a retailer or guild near you with members go can let you sit at the loom?
Try treadling with more than 2shafts tied to a treadle and see how it feels
Good luck!! You might have caught OLAD!
There is indeed a local spinners and weavers guild. At present, I don’t know any of the members … yet… but someone I met recentlyis an avid weaver and has many looms. I will ask her if I can visit one day. She has given a group of us a beginners lesson.
As well, there is a local wool shop that offers weaving lessons on small looms. I have not visited them yet. I took weaving workshops ages ago. A good teacher makes all the difference and I am enthused to begin again.
So, yes, I have resources that I shall investigate further. Thank you all!
Love my new David 3 Its manageable with a small footprint for such a large loom. Also the Louet customer service is great! Only negative might be its max 8 shaft. I don't think I'll ever need more but if you do a Spring might be the one for you. Jane has a great YouTube video comparing the David and Spring lom
