I have woven two shadow weave shawls but have made the same error in each of them. I believe I stepped on the wrong treadle twice and it created a long, dark line across the width of the shawl. I did this a couple times during weaving, caught the mistake and tore it out. However, I missed this error once on each of the final pieces. Is there a way to fix this problem? The shawls are off the loom. See photo attached. Thanks.

If you haven't washed your shawls yet, I think you have a chance to fix it. Carefully pull out that duplicate thread. It looks like you accidentally repeated a pick while you were weaving. If you've done the same thing on the other shawl you should be able to do the same thing on both. However, leave yourself enough of that pick to carefully work both ends into your cloth so that they don't work their way out with use ;-) Cut the errant pick in the middle and gently ease it out on both sides and then use that thread to weave it back in so it's secure. It won't be as noticeable at the edges as it is in the centre.
Thanks Sandra. I actually wove two picks in the wrong shed (540 threads in the width). I think I should try pulling out one thread … leaving enough at the edges to maintain cloth integrity … and see if that helps since the wrong shed line will be only one line instead of two. Hopefully after washing it, the one missing thread line will be somewhat less prominent. Any other suggestions on this Plan?
