Hi all, I am getting back into weaving after being away for 30 years. I know all about EPI, (I’ve woven plenty of cardboard!) and have just been learning about Sett. My favorite pattern used to be Snail's Trail and Cat’s Paw, and used to be very familiar with weaving that. But now that I know about opening up EPI for drape, how do I figure how far to open it up to accommodate the overshot pattern such as that in Snail’s Trail? I’d figured out before that I like using a smaller thread for the tabby background and a slightly larger one for the pattern, so I plan on using Jane’s 8/2 for the background and 8/4 for the pattern. I still want that BEAUTIFUL drape that the 16 or 18 EPI has. Thank you for any help you could give me, and sorry if this is answered somewhere in Jane’s course, but I’ve only recently joined and am only half way through season 2, but itching to go!
I love that pattern too. Firstly what will cloth be used for? I wove it, experimenting, as a towel but sett was way too loose for that purpose. It did have a nice drape tho. Janes episode on overshot is well worth watching. I’m learning to experiment and sample.
