I typically use a counting thread while winding on the warping board. But these last few warps I found that I had mistakes, which weren't discovered until I was well into the weaving. Is it better to group the counting thread with each color change in the warp, for how ever ends may be needed for that particular color, or is it better instead to use a consistent number of ends for each group, all the way across the entire warp?
I use counting threads, Meridee - simply because I never seem to wind a full warp without a distraction 😏 I normally would do 20 in a section and that way I can easily go back to double check where I was. Jane does it differently but as she says - there is no right way or wrong way- just the way that works for you.
