help. I was attempting to beam on my own a relatively short warp, back-to-front. the saddle dislodged when I was partway into the process and I lost all of the spreading of the warp. I thought I could try to back out of this, re-chain, start over, blahblahblah, but the warp gets hung up in the lease sticks when I attempt this. the tension in the beamed warp is good, it's just not spread out, so sitting on the beam, it's 8 inches, and it needs to be 39-ish inches in the reed. is there any solution to this, and can I *try* weaving it as is, or will that be too disastrous in terms of tension?
are your lease sticks still in place?
Yes. They are secure (thank the universe)
Jenie, make sure you tie your lease sticks to the castle in front, and the back beam in back to keep them in a stable position. Go to front of loom and (you said relatively short warp, how short?). I would start at the cut end of the warp from the front and start backing up. Finger comb as necessary, and keep backing up till the threads are all straight and taught. Spread the warp out evenly along the lease sticks . Not sure what kind of raddle you use, but can you push it up through the threads in front of the castle (shafts). On my table loom, that's where I put my raddle anyway. I attach it to a little board that sits on top on the side supports. I use quick clamps to clamp the board down. Put weights on the warp chain, and start cranking it onto back beam inserting sticks, paper etc. as needed.

Thank you!! The warp is only about 3 1/2 yards. I’m having trouble with it getting hung up in the lease sticks when I try and “rewind”, but I will revisit this. Thank you so much.
Tension will be your best friend here. That’s a nice short warp so I hope you can get it straightened out in the front of your loom. Wind a little at a time, straighten the threads out and wind a little more. I hope the weaving goes easier than the warping.

Look through this thread if you want to see my posts and photos from four months ago when I was warping and weaving the crackle towels. It was a learning experience.
