Good morning! I’m getting ready to weave the “Fishing for Compliments” towels found in the Sept/Oct 2021 issue of Handwoven! The pattern mentions plain weave and tabby but no where does the draft show a tabby weft, or is a tabby weft mentioned in the directions! I’m confused! Do I need a tabby pick? Thanks for any help or advice!!!
The plain weave is the tabby. Treadles 1 and 2. When you get to the motif it’s colour, tabby (treadle 1), colour, other tabby (treadle 2), colour, tabby (1), colour, other tabby (2), etc.
Have fun!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Really appreciate your help!!!
You have a left treadle and a right treadle for your tabby. Jane also suggests keeping track of which tabby you’re on by always throwing from the left when you depress the left treadle and from the right when you’re on the right treadle. That way you keep track of which tabby you’re on.
