🤣 Sort of. I’m retired since 2010 but I’ve only been weaving since 2020. And only on my David III since June, so your compliments warm my heart ❤️. My usual “thing” is watercolor painting. But sadly it has taken a back seat to weaving. I have an Etsy shop where I sell my work as a painter, but some of my weaving may be going in there at some point. A person can only use and gift so many towels and blankets. 🤣

Me too. I've been retired since 2014, my artistic path varies, with many years as a High School Art teacher, followed by many years as a photographer, taking folks on photo adventures in the Southwest. Always kept my weaving loom and spinning wheel since college. I set weaving aside to pursue faster art making (photography). Now, I have the time, energy and Jane's lessons to re-ignite my passion for fiber. I too have an Etsy shop (AuntKitsKnits) and will check out your painting. My life is full of art and craft, I live in Paradise (durango colorado). My favorite crafts include silversmithing, basketry, weaving, tapestry and oil painting. I'm anxious to get to my 8H loom and Season 6 towels, and learning to quit mucking with the selvedges.

Placemats for my dear niece in colors to match her new great room chair and sofa. The design is from Season 5 Episode 9, and are placemat number 5.

These are very easy to warp and fast to weave using 8/4 cotton.

After sampling some yarn for a project I opened the sett several times to see how various yarns in my stash would look. This one currently on my loom is set at 4EPI using an unknown wool yarn, equivalent to about a 4/12 Linen. I'm very new to weaving and so much of my "play time" when I'm working on Jane's projects are "learning time." I love it though and combined with Jane's fantastic teaching (especially the theory part) has taught me a great deal.

Check off the first item on my (very long) list of weaving projects for 2023-Linda's Scarves, the 8-shaft version. This was my first attempt at 8-shaft twill, and while definitely not perfect, I'm quite chuffed with the result. I hope you all can see the picture. Mine always seem to show up as links instead of just showing the image.

Just took my double width waffle weave off the loom. Really happy. My own project but totally due to the confidence I feel from completing up to the start of season 6 of the School of Weaving. ADORE this programme. This is the best way, for me, to properly understand the structures behind the weaving. Go You Good Thing Jane ( and her team).

I've been taking better notes on this warp. I photograph my sequences, add text in the phone edit app, print and hang from the castle.

I also find that it helps if I photograph the tie up along with the sequences I'm weaving. I've been doing this for the current project, because I've been confused when I want to repeat my warp sequences and patterns.

You can tell that photography is my day job, because my whole weaving process is documented :)
I am learning that when I make changes to Jane warps, some of her expertise and years of "doing" is missing. The drafted warp from Season 6 Episode 2 is my favorite. But when I moved away from the symmetry of it, I learned that her design with blocks extending beyond the color changes was what I loved weaving. As in this photo. I don't know what my tie up was (regular old turned twill?). but I really like when the A block extends beyond the white stripes of the warp.
