I have about an inch difference in mine, too. I’m fine with that.
And Barbara, I am ready to dip my toes into 8 shafts soon, too. A bit scary, but that’s what I said about a lot of things—including weaving on a floor loom. 🤣🤣🤣
I have an 8 shaft Jane Loom on a stand. I just got my Toika set up with all 8 shafts now, today. Now I need to decide on a structure and project.
Back to bouclé issues for a minute. I have been working on the Granny Pam Towels, and for some reason the cone of Peacock has been a real problem. I first noticed that it seemed more bouclé-y than the other colors. It's a tad thicker, or more lumpy, and I have had no less than three warp threads break because the thicker parts get caught in the reed, and sort of shred the core thread. So far I have fixed it, but it is a bit annoying to see some of those warp threads "hanging by a thread" quite literally. The last was was fixed with applying some glue to get the wrapping thread to stay around the core. I will be glad when this project is done, as much as I am loving the colors! Anyone else have issues? It only seems to be the Peacock in this kit, and I am sure it is not easy to spot in the yarn production process. My first reaction was that of all the cones in the kit, that one would be the strongest! It is the exact opposite though. LOL.
Glue is my friend on this! ;)
A little strategically used glue can be a life saver!!
Hello Deb, I know your posts were from 2 years ago. I'd just like to know what size reed you used. JST now recommends 6 or 8 dent reed for boucle tea towels but I'm just starting with a 12 dent reed. Not sure if I'm going to face plenty of issues because of that. I'd like to know if you had any success with boucle warp on a 12 dent reed? Also, what type of glue is used? Thank you.
I know the previous comments are from two years ago. I'd like to know what size reed all of you were using when you had these issues. I've just sleyed the reed (12 dent) for the Delphinium towels but do note that now that kit recommends a 6 or 8 dent reed. I'm not sure if I should continue, perhaps unsley and put it all away until I purchase a different reed.

Honestly, I can't remember. But whatever the draft called for was probably what I used.
