Hi Susan, there is a bit of confusion between metric system and "inch system" ( How is this called correctly in english ?) as the numbers don't fit exactly.
10cm are around 4 inch. So you have to divide our Ends per 10 cm by 4 to get the EPI. This works fine for 60/10 = 15Epi and 40/10 = 10EPI
Our 30/10 corresponds 7,5EPI and is mostly treated as 8EPI.
If you count 10/inch you must have got a 40/10 = 10EPI instead of the ordered 30/10
Susan, The size should be stamped in the metal on one of the side bars of the reed. What does that show?
Moderators, please can you remove this post. I tried to delete it but it just deleted my comments. I found the problem. It was a cheap Chinese tape measure!! When I checked again with my old trusty tape measure it measured right. When I checked the new tape measure an inch on the new tape measure was 1 1/4"!! Lol.
Wow Susan, It never occurred to me to check the accuracy of my measuring devices!! Will be sure to verify before putting new ones into use.
I couldn't believe it Cheryl. I just couldn't understand why it was wrong in inches but measured fine in centemetres. I didn't twig lol. I'll be checking new tape measures in the future. Thank you everyone who tried to help me figure it out.
So glad this wasn’t deleted! Otherwise we wouldn’t have known that all tape measures are not equal!!
