Hello,
I will be using 60/2 silk for both the warp and weft of a scarf I'll be weaving in Huck. I've read that Jane uses the same sett for lace as plain weave and have seen sett recommendations of 40, 45 and 60 epi for the 60/2 silk.
I know I might need to experiment :)
But....., do you think 40 epi will be a good starting point?
Thanks,
Karen
Hi Karen, 40 is a great starting point. I would make the warp a little wider than you want the finished fabric so that if you try it and find it is too open you can increase the sett a bit without loosing too much width. I haven’t woven with much 60/2 so I can’t give you more advice than to start at 40 and move up bit by bit if you need to. I hope this helps.
Jane
Thanks, Jane. I’ll let you know/see the end result!
How has it gone with your 60/2 silk?
HI Barbara,
It's going slowly! I'm in the process of correcting some sleying errors and hope to start the actual weaving in the next week. I have to tell you that the fineness of the silk and the deep color (it is a dark raspberry) make it really difficult to see when threading and counting the threads per dent.
I'll post again once the weaving starts and let you know how the sett is working out. Fingers crossed!
K.
