Every time I get to the end of weaving a project I'm left with the same dilemma… what to do with the loom waste?
I know these as 'thrums' - the short lengths of left-over warp. I can't bear to throw them away so I remove the 30 inch* lengths from the back of the loom in bunches, tie them in a loose knot and put into bags. I've now got a lot of bags!
What do others do with their 'thrums'?

* it's Megado floor loom so there's at least a yard between the fell of the cloth and the back beam rod that can't be woven.

Same here, Mary. Though mine’s not as much. I’ve got bags of the bits, too. I’m anxious to here what everyone does. Some people use them to stuff things.

Tie the ends together to make a ball of yarn so you can use it as a weft .
There’s a Japanese word for this which I can’t recall at the moment..

I use them for choke ties..

And if the finished item is a gift, I’ll bundle up several together then tie end to end to make a thicker “ribbon” to wrap the woven gift. I also use the bits from where you tied on to apron rod. They make. nice bundled bow especially post wash. I hope this makes sense.

A friend said that some people make them into little dusters.

I also hate throwing those out. I really like the idea of tying them together for weft. Thanks for the suggestion. Now I use them to dust off the loom after a project and just toss them.
