it seems like harrisville shetland is having inventory issues everywhere. I have a fair amount of wool yarn that is comparable but it is much more stretchy than harrisville as it is meant for knitting. I was wondering if anyone has a recipe for sizing they use for wool and if that makes the warp yarn less stretchy. also, would I need to size the weft yarn as well.
What do you mean by “sizing” ? Do you mean applying something to the yarn? The yarn you do have, it is super-washed knitting yarn? Superwashed yarns won’t full in the weave when washing the project, so the structure of the weave isn’t as stable. But you may know that. I don’t know if superwashing techniques make a wool yarn more stretchy or not.
Before I discovered Harrisville Shetland, I used KnitPicks Palette. In my estimation, it is similar and comes in a ton of colors. I don’t know what you mean by sizing either.
