I'm going to be finishing the color and weave gamp soon and I'm just not that excited about the parrot project or the plaid project. I'm looking at the gamps and they are all very exciting to me and I would love to have them all done before moving on to "real" projects and I'm wondering if there is any reason I shouldn't just weave all the gamps first and then work on the other projects?
You’re talking about season 2 only?
Well, there’s sense to how Jane builds on each episode and it also builds muscle memory.
I’d at least watch and take notes on the episodes in order because it’s referred to all the time. And you’re questions might already be in the videos. It’s quite enlightening and because more so with each season.
I’ve made shorter warps because I like the practice and it solidifies the lessons for me.
You don’t have to do anything- it’s not graded University.
Thanks! This is exactly what I was wondering. I do plan to still watch all the episodes, I've already watched some of them more than once :) I'm just on a budget and I'm not really "excited" about those two projects, but I also don't want to skip over any learning I would miss if that makes sense... LOL
I also like the idea of doing a shorter warp, this might make me feel less like I'm wasting time/yarn. The world is so expensive right now! LOL
I understand! It gets pricey. I’ve managed to score some near free yarn from Guild sales. So colors and yarn weight in some cases are different but for some of the projects it hasn’t been a big deal or a learning experience when I rework the sett.
I think some folks made their samples towel size so they can use them or gift them. I tend to be plagued with gremlins so I keep it small.
Yeah- have fun !!!
I need to find a guild near me, I'm in Southern Ca so there are not a lot of options :( but I also like the idea of making gifts. Someone in my family will appreciate these! Thanks again <3
Have you looked into the Southern California Handweaver's Guild? They would have a list of affiliated members in your area but there might be non-affiliated ones too.
I did the parrot project and loved it, but gamps are super fun. I haven’t done one on my new David, but did a couple on my sadly cast aside RHL. 🤣 looking forward to doing one inspired by a shirt I have and the yarn just arrived today from JST! Excited to see what you come up with Stacey!
The gamps are so awesome! And I love all the information they contain. I feel like I can get so much information from them but I don't want to miss any information I would get from doing parrot and the plaid project LOL
