Hi everyone,
I’m a newbie to the wonderful Land of Floor Looms, coming directly from Rigid Heddle Lands. I didn’t even take a side trip to Table Loom Land, though I contemplated it until I saw Jane’s review of the David 3. We have one on order, but meanwhile I’m having a blast learning here in School of Weaving. It’s our go-to evening entertainment.
Anyhoo, this might be a silly question, but I’ve been wondering if any of you number your treadles, and if so, is there a particular way? Sequentially ? Most used? Would love some feedback. Thanks! I look forward to joining the conversations here because I'm completely addicted and don’t even have my loom yet! 😵💫🤣🥰
Welcome to our “rabbit hole”, Deb! You mustn’t have gone deep enough in the hole yet ;-) Jane talks about labelling her looms when she moves into using your treadle tie-ups as part of your design process. Your treadles the tools you use while you are weaving to create different weave structures.. The best way to learn all about your new “addiction” is to go through each episode in order - building a new skill on top of the ones you have already learned and understand. We’re here to answer questions. Another resource that you might find useful is our Knowledge Base, which has Q&As as well as articles that Jane has written about certain elements of Weaving. Welcome aboard 😄
Thanks, Sandra!
You’re absolutely right. I’m only up to season 2 and just watched muted color gamp last night.
Glad I have so much to look forward to!
I put those rubber feet that stick on the ends of table legs on certain treadles. I looked for longer, thinner, smooth, round ones. I have fourteen treadles, and I marked the middle two, and the third one from the outside on both ends. The middle left has one and the middle right has two. They’re like the bumps on the f and j keys of the keyboard, so I can always feel where I am with my big toe.
What a good idea. Kind of like braille for the feet! 😉
