Hey,
I am confused as to how to read a pattern that I got from Anne Dixon’s “Handweaver’s pattern directory “ for four shaft looms. (And I hope I can figure out how to attach a photo)
Anyways, the confusion is that with some of the “Mixed Twill” patterns it shows the tie-up grid using actually more than four shaft variations.
Ok, I have no idea how to insert a photo on this new forum....so I hope someone just knows what I am talking about.
Thanks so much,
Christina
Hi Christina,
I think all the drafts are just 4 shafts but that doesn’t mean they only need 4 treadles. The horizontal part of the draft is the threading and if there are only 4 rows, then it is 4 shafts. The tie-up box could have many treadles. There are so many ways to tie-up just 4 shafts. As a matter of fact there are 14 ways :). Crazy huh!. I’m at home and don’t have a copy of the book in front of me so I hope this helps. Cheers, Jane
A-haaaaaaaa!!! Aaaahhhhhhaaaaaa🧐🤩! Thank you and that makes a lot of sense.....now I gotta count me treadles🤣
Oops forgot about the photos. If you go to the top horizontal menu bar on this page you will see resources. Click on that and it takes you to a whole bunch of info about all kinds of things. One of the boxes half way down has the word Forum in it and if you click there you will see an article about posting photos. Hope this helps, Cheers,
Jane
Jane you are on fire! Thank you! Got the photo part, too! I feel so smart now!
Have a great evening!
