Can I beam on a warp by myself on my Jane loom, as it has no brake on the back beam?
Hi Deborah, Absolutely....the back beam has a toggle that engages into the ratchet. The beam turns counter-clockwise, that is all you have to remember and then the toggle engages with the ratchet. Hope this helps. Happy warping, Jane
I love my Jane loom but a few projects ago I noticed the beater wasn’t quite hitting the fell squarely. At first I thought it was me, so have been quite careful to pull the beater forward at its centre, but I’m still seeing a slant. On a 20” warp, the left side is almost 1/4” higher than the right. I wonder if there is a fix to bring the beater back into square? Or am I fussing over nothing?

This has happened to me and I did 2 things. I loosened the screws up at the top on both sides and then I slowly tightened them up a little at a time on each side....they tested it. And if that didn't do it I kind of torqued the beater into square by twisting it in the opposite direction. This of course can only be done when there is no warp on. Let us know how this goes.
