I have had tremendous difficulty warping my loom with paper. it does not lay as smooth as when Jane does it. My husband has been pushing me to ask if I can use fabric to warp a loom.

I use poster board when I'm beaming my warp. It's cheap at a dollar store, nice and sturdy, and doesn't tear easily.

Hi Susi, Maybe you are winding on with too much tension. If it is buckling while you wind on that is a sign of too much tension. Kind of like Goldilocks and the 3 bears....you have to get it just right :). I would try that first. Cloth doesn’t lay the same even flat bed between the layers that I look for when I’m winding on. It squishes into the warp threads and then they might not be as even. Or....your paper may be too thin. I use brown packing paper and it works like a dream. Don’t give up on it, because it is great.

I just wanted to add that I went to Home Depot and bought a big roll of 36" wide 'builders paper' and it works wonderfully. It's a huge roll, so will probably last me for years. I re-use it several times before throwing any out.
