I have a large floor loom which I weave rugs on. After weaving for a couple of years now I am ready for a loom that I can do towels and really nice stuff on. My floor room is just not suited for that. I am looking for some input on what people use and the pros and cons about each. Before I buy, I want to know what I am getting into.

I have an 8 shaft, 32" Ashford. It's my first loom, and likely all I'll ever have room for. I don't have much to compare it to, but one thing I don't love is that it doesn't have a shuttle race (so I use very slow stick shuttles), and the actual space to weave in before you need to advance seems pretty small. I like the number of shafts and width, and it's easy to fold up with a project on. It's fine, but I might suggest looking at that stuff if you're comparing options...maybe not super helpful, but thought I'd add my two cents and see if we can start a discussion!

My table loom (on a stand) is an 8 shaft Woolhouse Tools. I love this loom, but HATED not having a shuttle race. I was actually preparing to sell it this year...then my husband made a shuttle race for me. It was a simple piece of square wood (around 1.5") that he cut to the length I needed. Then I finished it and we attached it to the beater at just the right height and now I LOVE this loom.
