Oh my goodness I sure had fun creating this episode. Deflected Doubleweave on 4 and 8 shafts. I'm not sure which project I like the best, they are all so much fun. I definitely got carried away with the sampling side of things. I wove 2 yards of play on both the 4 shaft and 8 shaft samplers and had so much fun. Doing all this work allowed me to play with composition in the big projects. I could have gone on forever......but I think I say that every episode!
You have a ton of PDF material again so get that printed off and I think you 8 shafters will love what I did with 4 shafts too. The 4 shaft project explores 4 and 5 ends units in towels with a colour and weave Log Cabin overlay in 8/2 cotton. Fun and fast to weave.
The 8 shaft project is extremely special because I first wove it with my weaving Master, Mary Andrews way back in 1981 at the Banff Centre and it was taken from Mary Meigs Atwaters recipe book from 1957. I developed the sampler on a Zephyr (50/50 Silk/Merino) warp with Zephyr weft. You have an excellent colour PDF with all the information so you could design 2 scarves on the warp or weave the sampler and 1 scarf. I then choose 2 sections from the sampler and rewove it in our Baby Alpaca.
