Season 6 - Units, Blocks and Profiles
We have another amazing year ahead of us, laying a solid foundation in regards to the words Units, Blocks and Profiles. We will continue with the explorations we started last year and add much more. This first episode will give you a good handle on the vocabulary. As with all my workshops, graphic design will lead the way for structure and colour to live on. Our profiles will define our graphics and we'll learn how to interpret them in many different weave structures. There are so many to explore...it was hard to choose, but I'm happy with what's coming up and we'll continue along this path into 2023.
So, grab your notebook and pencil, print off that big PDF, pour a cup of tea and enjoy the show.

Welcome back to another fun episode. These placemats were a blast to weave. I tried all kinds of things....bringing design ideas forward, always doing the overlay thing. What is Name Drafting?
Well, basically you assign a harness on your loom to a letter in the alphabet, then you take words that have meaning to you, a name, a piece of poetry, a Haiku..... assign the letters in the word to the harnesses on your loom. Tweak it a tad to follow the rules of overshot...

We have looked at so many powerful structures in the past few years, it is mind-boggling to consider just how much is possible on the 4 shaft loom by just moving threads around and playing with repetitive sequences....after all that is what tabby, float, tabby, float is....a repetitive sequence. ...

Here we are at the end of another jam-packed season. When I look back at all we've learned this year I need to lie down and have a nap 🤣. I'm sure you do too. There was a lot of theory to take in but the best thing about the School of Weaving is that it is always there to review again and again ...
