There is a nip in the air, which makes weaving inside even more tempting. What's on, or planned for your loom this month?
I definitely have a variety of projects on my looms. Currently David has the towels from the Season 5 Epi 7 Bronson lace kit. I have been playing around with other colors and yarns from my stash for the weft (along with the kit yarns). Finished towel #6 (or is it #7 LOL) yesterday.
On my Woolhouse Tools Carolyn, I am in the process of threading Season 7 Epi 8 towels. I opted for the 28 epi version and this will be the first time I've woven with 16/2 cotton (this is for the weft). I am threading this on all 8 shafts so as to not run out of heddles.
My Jane loom is all warped up for an in person class this coming weekend. We're making a squarish hand towel with a center decorative loop based on a project from "Favorite Scandinavian Projects" by Tina Ignell. The instructor is Susan Conover. She is/was at Vavstuga.
Looks like you have a busy October ahead of you, Cheryl ;-) Both my David and my Woolhouse have warps on them as well😉 I'll have to look in the book to see if I can find what you will be weaving on the weekend.
Hey Sandra, In my book it's on page 71 and is called "Square Hand Towels with Hanging Loops at the Center".
I’m almost done with the SW warp and about to tackle Turned Taquete. I want to do it with the baby alpaca, though, so I have some fiddling ahead of me. Jane verified that I probably won’t have “shifty little fellers’ with that, though. 😂😉
I'm weaving the last few yards of the alternate threading for Season 7. Frankly, I can't wait to move on from this warp. 12 yards is a few yards too much for me. Since the selvedge "zingers' are red, I decided to move away from the charcoal and natural weft and play with autumn colors. [img][/img]
All inspiring projects on our looms...so glad to know I'm not the only one with three project in process. Deb, Let us know how the Turned Taqueté works. Love to see your in progress images.
I just completed an 8/4 carpet warp set of towels that I warped up before subscribing to the School of Weaving. My little warp started out with a very traditional design for the first towel and the second was very different after viewing the Color and Design videos. Zingers, asymmetry, playing on the loom...I had fun! First I used Fiberworks to play, and did even more at the loom. Loving this so far. Not sure how to add images.
I've fallen into Flesberg using Quebecoise :)

annmcc123, I love the colors and pattern....beautiful
Kit...I hear you on the long warp boredom. I am finishing up a 9 yard warp on my David and can't WAIT to be done with it. 6 yards is my normal maximum length. I am always ready to MOVE on to something new by then.
Finally weaving a double wide blankie on my David. used the fold double tool on Fiberworks and it worked!
I was skeptical at first but did some sampling. Had to keep my beat very light to match my epi ( 12 per in. x 2 )
Floats are 3 in one direction and 5 in the other. Will be a light airy blankie. Photos to come when I figure out how.
Thanks to Jane for tips on double weave!
