What's on my loom? CurrentIy, I'm ashamed to say...dust! I'm just getting back into weaving, just found this school, but this week, I'm busy helping my cousin get ready for my aunts 99th birthday. My aunt is the special person who gave me her table loom. I want to weave up some Twill, turned twill, learn crackle and so much more.
My latest project just taken off the loom was a canvas weave scarf using 40/2 linen. This was the first time I’ve used this yarn and I’m not sure about the success. I used Jane’s recommended sett of 20epi but designed my own pattern. I noticed that as the weaving progressed, the threads in the “float” areas became increasingly loose, so it was quite easy to catch them in the wrong shed. Also, the threads at the very edge seemed to break regularly, presumably because they were under more tension. My edges are also a bit ragged! A very steep learning curve!

Yes linen isn't very forgiving - no stretch. The results are beautiful though! Don't give up.
It will be amazing after hard pressing and a few washes and ironing. I dampen my linen with a spritzer as I iron without steam, pressing as hard as I can. You will love it and it will last forever!
