Kit, we used Harrisville Shetland. I loved Jane's original colors and used those. Deb showed her artist chops and made her beautiful version.
I have two photos, one shows the two shawls I wove, pre-wet finish. Feels like stiff burlap. The other photo shows Shawl #1 post-wet finish. Lovely and lofty. Phew, it took a lot of wash bowls of soapy water to get the water clean. I am waiting to wet finish shawl #2 until I bring them to my May weaving groups so folks can see the before and after. Heads up, if anyone decides to follow the pattern instructions, I warped as instructed for 2 shawls (6 yards), but made my warp narrower by 2 inches. After weaving #1, I could tell I would NOT have enough yarn left for the 2nd shawl. I had a cone of cream Harrisville Shetland in my stash and used it to add some weft stripes to make the original colors last for the 2nd shawl. I ran out of the original White and replaced with Cream at about half way through, completely used up the Suede color, and had a little bit of the Goldenrod color left on the bobbin. I used 3 bobbins of Cream.
