Those are lovely, Catherine. I like the subtle twill with the bold stripes. Did you just play on the loom or design it on paper or software first. just curious.
Thanks Gillian. I couldn't have done that without Fibreworks. Especially the green blankie' s section of BW and white Twill strips was a challenge for me.
Makes such a difference where you start.
I also like to have some idea of where I'm going before beginning. For me, there are so many things to focus on while I'm weaving. I just don't have the brain space for designing as well. Maybe some day : ) Thank goodness for computers and the clever/kind/possibly obsessed engineers who have designed the software to help us!!!

This started from Season 3 - Episode 4 Weft faced. Then I rethreaded the warp to give Krokbragd a try. Can you tell I like symmetry? I really enjoyed making these little rugs, but they use so much yarn.

Here are my Season 6 Episode 3 Monksbelt Placemats. They have all been machine washed and hard pressed till dry. These shrunk 1 inch in width. The two in the foreground have been hemmed and a second machine wash and then a tumble dry on medium heat. These two shrunk an additional inch in width.
I did get to use up 2 two cones of 8/2 from my stash (yippee) in the weft. The darker/brighter blue and the rust colors. The rest used the colors in the warp, which were muted versions of the JST pattern.

Thanks Deb...I also have two more to hem. Next warp on this loom will be for napkins. Plan to make 10 and I will hemstitch and leave a one inch fringe on those, so when I cut them off of the loom they will be ready to wash and use with NO hemming.
Those will be beautiful, Cheryl. Good idea about the fringe. Now you’ve got me wanting to make napkins to match. Too bad the warp is off the loom. 🙃
Deb, I am warping my loom with 22/2 cottolin in natural. A Rosepath twill threading. Will be weaving with a tabby weft in the natural color cottolin and a pattern weft in different colors of cottolin and maybe 8/2 cotton. One color pattern weft per napkin.
This way I will have napkins to match whatever woven table runner or placemat I have on the table. I have cottolin guest towels that are decades old and the fringe has really held up.
Can't wait to see those! :)
I didn't plan to make those, but now I have to. They look great! Love the combination rusty, blue, grey.
Thanks Catherine...The warp colors were olive, denim blue, teal and the light color you see is nile green.
The weft colors are the same, but also the rust color, and the brighter blue weft is Halcyon's Homestead Cotton, and then the one mat used gold 8/2 for tabby and the olive for pattern.
I Just got this ginormous blanket started a couple of days ago. It's Gist Alpaca and double wide. I pretty much maxed out the David 3's 110cm width at 554 ends in an 8 dent reed.
I have to say it is weaving beautifully and so far not sticking at all. Glad I have 13 inch shuttles, though. It is a long way across (33.5 inches). Colors in the close-up are not very accurate. Lighting is everything, isn't it? LOL.

I wove a couple of scarfs with the Gist Alpaca and got some crazy tracking after wet finishing (of course, me being me, I dried in my dryer on low). LOVED it, looked like I wove it in a twill pattern instead of plain weave :=)
Thanks, Cheryl. This is for my hubby, Don. He doesn’t think Harrisville Shetland is soft enough, so I told him we needed some alpaca to suit his softness needs. Needless to say we spent a small fortune. Good thing those cone have 3,800 yards. 😂
That turquoise scarf ( with the silk stripes) that I made for my friend has some is the same yarn. I washed and dried on gentle, too and didn’t notice any tracking. I actually don’t mind tracking. It adds some texture. One thing I did notice in a bit of play I did at the end of the scarf warp was that doing twill —at least at that set—was a waste of time because I couldn’t even see it after washing, but it did become thicker and almost felt-like. I’m still afraid of trying twill on double weave. Especially on this blanket, because I know I’d mess it up! I will try twill double weave on some cotton at some point, though. Just to get the hang of it.

I love that. Do you every have people (non-weavers) gasp and say "How did you DO that?" LOL. I do. It's fun to tell them it happens on its own.
Sometimes I do. With this scarf, I had weavers trying to figure out my twill and were amazed that it was tracking LOL.
My husband was very unsatisfying in his lack of enthusiasm over my placemats. I told him to step up his response when the napkins are done!!
I’m sure he’ll change his tune when you set the table with matching napkins. Especially when others are complimenting you! Or you can give him a store-bought placemat, and I’m thinking one meant for a kid with a sad face on it. 😂
Finished Don's alpaca blanket this morning. He helped design it, which was fine, but I still don't like the white ("cloud") color in it. I think it detracts. But he loves it so I can let go. I also ran out of warp before I could complete a final plaid sequence, which ticked me off. Lesson learned. I wove until I couldn't advance, and the shuttle started to catch. I think I had about 6" from the end of the weaving to the rod where it was tied on. No playing with excess on this baby. And since I didn't want to spend the rest of my days twisting the fringe, I just knotted it. Now I wish I had twisted it. But again, water under the bridge. ;)
On the plus side, this was soooo easy to weave (once I got the tie-on to stay!) and the fold came out great. It's the thin, middle, cloud stripe. I had originally planed to pull one of the three threads out to make the fold work, as we often do on double wide weaving, but I didn't need to. It behaved itself beautifully.
Washed it in the machine on delicate, dried in the machine for about 25 minutes on delicate. We are very pleased. Mostly. 😂

Very nice. I do like the white . It makes the blanket pop! Good job, Deb. I haven't yet ventured into doubleweave. I always thought it looked like I could make too many mistakes.

After you wrap your head around the tie up and treadling, it is easy peasy. This is my fourth blanket and it gets easier each time!
I am now going to tackle Turned Twill. For real. Now THAT is where I will make loads of mistakes!

Oh the blanket looks so lovely, big and warm. Your husband is a lucky man. I think of the tracking as a bonus design element...just beautiful !! It sure looks long enough to my eye, and I personally love the fringe vs. twisted ends.
